| Q | When is Confratute? |
| A | Confratute occurs during the middle two weeks of July. Confratute 2009 will be held July 13-24. |
| Q | When does Confratute start? |

| Q | When does Confratute end? |
| A | Confratute wraps-up each Friday at noon. |
| Q | Where is Confratute? |
| A | Confratute is held at the University of Connecticut, Connecticut’s flagship university, in the rural northeast corner of the state. Classes are held in various buildings located near the South Campus Residence Hall. Details are listed in the Schedule of Events packet that is received upon arrival. |
| Q | What is the daily schedule? |
| A | Confratute has a new format for the schedule of strands. There is a sample of this schedule as well as a listing of tentative strand offerings on the webpage at www.gifted.uconn.edu/confratute. Each day begins with a keynote presentation at 8:30 am. We then offer three time slots10:00-12:00, 1:30-3:30, and 3:45-5:00for strands, which are classes that meet four times throughout the week at the same time each day. Each day ends with a number of evening enrichment offerings, including Think Tanks, Arts Presentations, Technology Updates, and Creative Activities. More details regarding the schedule will be provided when you check in at Confratute. |
| Q | Do I need to sign up for the strands that I want to attend throughout the week? |
| A | Pre-registration for specific strands is not needed. Depending on attendance the first day of the strand, room changes will be made to accommodate the size of the group. |
| Q | Which week is more important or should I come for both weeks? |
| A | The answer to this question is not easyit really depends on the person, your current position, and your goals for coming to Confratute. Most of the strands are repeated each week. Please contact us if you would like help determining which week would be best suited for your specific needs. |
| Q | What do you need to do to get CEUs? |
| A | Participants can earn Continuing Education Units by attending a full schedule of keynotes, strands, and special sessions (7.0 CEUs for two weeks or 3.7 for one week). More details will be available in the Schedule of Events packet that is received upon arrival as well as at Orientation. |
| Q | What do I need to do to sign up for graduate credit for Confratute? |
| A | There is nothing that you need to do before you get here. See page 9 of the Welcome Packet for details on what to do once you arrive. |
| COSTS |
| Q | How much does Confratute cost? |
| A | The cost for Confratute varies according to the package you choose. For prices on each of the packages, please see the registration form in the Confratute 2009 Brochure or contact the Confratute Office at Confratute Office. |
| Q | How does the group discount work? |
| A | Discount prices for groups of 5 or more people attending from the same school district can be obtained by contacting the Confratute Office. The group can be split between the two weeks; however, group registrations must be submitted together by July 1, 2009 in order to receive the discount and be housed together. Group registrations can only be submitted by mail or secure fax as online registration is not available. Contact the Confratute office for group prices and procedures. |
| Q | Are there costs other than registration? |
| A | There are separate costs for graduate credits, airport shuttle, weekend trips reservations, and educational materials for strands that require textbooks or manuals. See the Welcome Packet for more information. |
| Q | Are there any scholarships available for Confratute? |
| A | While Confratute does not offer any scholarships, we have compiled a listing of recommended websites for Grants and Scholarships that may be appropriate for teachers of gifted and talented students. We have also prepared a sample proposal for teachers to use as a template for submitting funding requests to school districts. Please contact the Confratute office for this sample. You could also try your local Rotary Club, Lions Club, Target Stores, Walmart, PTA, etc. |
| REGISTRATION |
| Q | What is the registration deadline? |
| A | The deadline for Confratute 2009 registrations is July 1st, but try to register as early as possible so there will be enough time for a confirmation to be mailed to you before you arrive. |
| Q | Can I register by phone? |
| A | We offer three methods of registration: online, secure fax, or mail. Phone registrations are not accepted. |
| Q | Can I register now and pay later? |
| A | Payment in full is required at the time of registration. Contact the Confratute office for more information. |
| Q | Can I register my group online? |
| A | No, online registrations can only be done by individuals. Group registrations must be completed and sent by mail or secure fax with payment or purchase order by July 1, 2009. |
| Q | When is check-in and onsite registration? |
| A | Please see the Welcome Packet for the arrival schedule, but you should plan to arrive on Sunday of the week you are attending. If you have registered for a resident package, your housing and meals begin Sunday evening. |
| Q | Can I arrive early? |
| A | The earliest you may arrive is Sunday, July 12th at 4:00 pm. If you are registered for the 2nd week of Confratute, you should arrive on Sunday, July 19th beginning at 4:00 pm, unless you have pre-registered for additional nights as a campus resident. See the registration form in the Confratute 2009 brochure for details. |
| Q | What if I miss the Sunday or Monday registration? |
| A | If you miss both registration times you must go to Command Central in Rome Commons for instructions on how to check-in and receive your registration materials. |
| Q | What if I need to cancel my registration? Will I receive a refund? |
| A | The deadline for cancellation is July 1, 2009. For a full refund, cancellations must be received by July 1, 2009. Please see the Confratute 2009 brochure for more information. |
| HOUSING |
| Q | What is the campus housing like? |
| A | Residents stay in Wilson, Rosebrooks, or Snow Hall, part of the South Campus Residence Complex. The dorms are ample in size, clean, comfortable, and air conditioned. For detailed information about these accommodations, please see page 8 of the Welcome Packet . |
| Q | Can I choose my roommate? |
| A | You may indicate your roommate preference on the registration form. If no preferred roommate is listed on your registration, you will be assigned a roommate and/or suitemates upon arrival. |
| Q | Can my spouse come if he/she is not participating in Confratute? |
| A | Yes. Please contact the Confratute officefor spouse package costs. Spouses will be housed in a double room in a suite with a shared bath. |
| Q | Can my children come? |
| A | Children are not permitted to stay in campus housing, and Confratute does not offer any programs or options for children. |
| Q | Are there any campus housing options for people with special needs? |
| A | We have a limited number of handicap accessible rooms available. Please contact the Confratute office if you have a medical condition or disability that requires special housing considerations. |
| MEALS |
| Q | What meals are provided for weekend residents? |
| A | The following meals are provided for participants who are registered to stay on campus over the weekend between weeks one and two of Confratute:
- Breakfast and lunch are provided on Friday, July 17.
- Continental breakfast is provided on Saturday, July 18.
- Continental breakfast and dinner is provided on Sunday, July 19.

| TRANSPORTATION |
| Q | Is there shuttle service available from the airport or bus/train station? |
| A | We offer shuttle service from Bradley International Airport on each Sunday for arrivals and each Friday for departures. Please see the Welcome Packet for more details and to access the Airport Shuttle Reservation Form. For all other arrivals (train, bus, or other airports), you will need to make your own travel arrangements. Please see the Alternative Ground Transportation Information for area Taxi, Bus, and Limo Services. |
