The Davidson Institute for Talent Development
Overview of Services for Profoundly Gifted Young People, Parents and Teachers

The Davidson Institute for Talent Development is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization, whose mission is to recognize, nurture and support profoundly gifted young people and to provide opportunities for them to develop their talents in positive ways to create value for themselves and others. (www.davidson-institute.org)
Founded in 1999, The Davidson Institute was formed out of a concern that our nation's most gifted and talented young people were largely neglected and underserved. While studies indicate that thousands of children make up the profoundly gifted population, few resources exist to support these children, their families, and the professionals who serve them.
The Davidson Institute offers all of its services free of charge. Eligibility criteria and applications for the services described below are available on the institute's web site, www.davidson-institute.org .
The Davidson Institute currently offers the following services and scholarships:
- Davidson Young Scholars www.davidson-institute.org
Through this individualized program, profoundly gifted young people and their parents have access to services related to child/adolescent development, talent development, academic support and educational advocacy.
Davidson Young Scholars and their parents partner with members of the Institute's team of professionals to develop and implement an individualized "action plan" designed to nurture the Young Scholar's development. Financial assistance is available to individuals who qualify. Davidson Young Scholars and their parents also have the opportunity to connect with peers, share experiences, and learn from each other and from nationally recognized experts through active participation in the Institute's online community. In addition to connecting online, the Institute periodically offers Young Scholars the opportunity to attend regional gatherings and conferences.
- Davidson Fellows www.davidson-institute.org
The Davidson Fellows award is designed to highlight the achievements of students who have created a significant piece of work in the areas of Science, Technology, Mathematics, Literature, Philosophy and/or Music. Davidson Fellows receive either a $50,000 or $10,000 scholarship to be used at an accredited institution of learning.
- Educators Guild www.davidson-institute.org
The Davidson Institute's Educators Guild is comprised of teachers, school counselors and school/district administrators who are interested in connecting with colleagues to locate resources and discuss strategies for identifying and serving highly gifted students.
- PG-CyberSource www.davidson-institute.org
The Davidson Institute for Talent Development also offers PG CyberSource, an online searchable database containing the largest collection of resources and full-text articles for profoundly gifted students, their parents and the professionals who serve them.
