America's Promise Alliance Youth Partnership Team
The America's Promise Alliance's Youth Partnership Team is currently accepting applications for new members. The Youth Partnership Team is a select group of young leaders chosen to help support and lead the America's Promise Alliance's campaign for children and youth. Members of the YPT are often called upon to speak on behalf of the America's Promise Alliance, give presentations and workshops at conferences, and help manage and facilitate a national, web-based youth leadership program for other young people. Student Peace Prize
The Student Peace Prize is to be awarded during the International Student Festival in Trondheim (ISFiT) 2007. The prize is awarded every second year on behalf of all Norwegian students, and is the only peace prize in the world to and from students. This prize highlights the important role of students in the struggle for peace, democracy and human rights. Eligibility: nominee must be a student or a student organization who or which has made an outstanding contribution to peace, democracy or human rights. Maximum Award: an invitation to come to Norway to accept the prize at the Peace Prize Ceremony during ISFiT 2007, and travel throughout Norway to meet with important organizations and decision makers. Students Invited to Join NetAid Global Citizen Corps
Do you know high school students who want to make a difference in the lives of the world's poor? Would you like to help schools get more involved in addressing global challenges like HIV/AIDS, hunger, and access to education? Tell students to apply for the NetAid Global Citizen Corps (GCC)! The Global Citizen Corps is a national network of high school student leaders working to educate and mobilize their peers in efforts to end global poverty. The application deadline is May 7, 2006.

$1,000 Community Service Grant for Literacy
Youth Service America and Lionsgate are excited to announce the "Bee" the Change Community Service Grant for literacy. This grant opportunity offers $1,000 to one young person between the ages of 5-25 to implement a sustainable community service project that increases literacy in their community and uses the movie, "Akeelah and the Bee" as inspiration. The "Bee" the Change Community Service Grant is open to all young people in the United States between the ages of 5-25. Projects should be youth-led and created, and must have a portion of their project take place on National and Global Youth Service Day (April 20-22, 2007). Deadline: June 9, 2006.

National Neighborhood Day Short Film Contest
The mission of National Neighborhood Day is to inspire, build, and sustain the neighborhood relationships that provide the foundation for civic action and the building of stronger, more caring and effective communities. To promote National Neighborhood Day's mission and vision, we are hosting our second annual National Neighborhood Day Short Film Contest. This is an excellent opportunity for filmmakers to use technology and creativity to tell the nation "What Neighborhood Means to Me". The deadline for entries is June 15, 2006. Our Short Film Contest is for both professional and amateur filmmakers to illustrate, through a film in 5-minutes or less, what a neighborhood that inspires them means to them. Students in grades K-12 are especially invited to participate as individuals or as a group or classroom project. There is no entry fee for the youth category. The contest has three prize categories: Adult, Youth (under age 18 or enrolled in grades K-12), and a Special Jury Award. Prizes of $2,000 will be awarded in each of the three categories.

Fellowships to Send Teachers and Administrators to Korea
The Institute of International Education's Korean Studies Workshop will send U.S. secondary school teachers and administrators to Korea for a 12-day workshop. The Workshop is designed to enhance mutual understanding between the people of Korea and the United States by inviting certain U.S. educators to visit Korea and then share their experiences with fellow Americans upon their return. The workshop will include lectures, tours to cultural and industrial sites, and meetings with Korean educators and students. Maximum Award: fully funded 12-day tour. Eligibility: 6th thru 12th grade social studies teachers, secondary school principals and assistant principals, and curriculum coordinators and textbook writers with influence over social studies curriculum. Deadline: May 4, 2006.

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Young Scholars Program
This program selects high-achieving youth in the Unites States with financial need and provides them, throughout their high school years, with individualized educational services that enable them to develop their talents and abilities. Freedom Alliance Scholarships
Freedom Alliance Scholarships provide financial assistance to sons and daughters of soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines and Guardsman who have been killed or permanently disabled (100% VA disability rating) in the line of duty, or who are currently classified as a Prisoner of War (POW) or Missing in Action (MIA). Maximum Award: one year scholarships to undergraduates. Deadline: July 31, 2006.

The Report it Now High School Journalism Contest invites high school students to submit stories written for school newspapers or created for broadcast on school television or radio station. The Challenge of Partnership
The National Association of Independent Schools invites participation in Challenge 20/20, a program that brings together two schools: one from the United States and one from outside of the United States. Service Learning Grants to Promote Crime Prevention & Community Service
The National Crime Prevention Council will award grants to support service-learning projects planned and implemented by youth who identify needs and create projects to address or prevent crime, violence, and drug abuse in their schools and communities. These grants are intended to encourage and promote crime prevention, community service, and civic responsibility. Maximum Award: $500.
