Applying to Graduate Program



Ph.D. Program

All Application Materials (paper and online) are due by February 1 for Fall Admission

To apply to our Ph.D. program (in residence only):

  1. Read about admissions requirements

    International Applicants—Students who are not United States citizens, or permanent resident aliens, must meet additional requirements before their admission is finalized. They must present documentation of their ability to meet all expenses for at least the first year of study and an acceptable plan for financing the remainder of their program. International students must complete the financial declaration form, which can be downloaded from the graduate school website, and should submit it with the graduate school application. Otherwise, the processing of the application and the timing of acceptance could be delayed.
    Our department does not require a preliminary application for international students.
  2. Complete the graduate school application

    Be sure to review carefully the application checklist before submitting the application. Include the following on your application:
    • Enrollment plans - Fall semester and year
    • Degree and field of study - Ph.D. in Educational Psychology
    • Area of concentration - Gifted and Talented
    • Campus of intended registration - Storrs
    • Preferred faculty advisor - Tutita Casa, M. Katherine Gavin, E. Jean Gubbins, Catherine Little, Sally Reis, Del Siegle
    Graduate Record Examinations (GREs) are required for application to our Ph.D. program.

  3. Mail the following materials, in one completed packet, to the Graduate School:
    • Official transcripts of all collegiate work completed to date
    • Three letters of academic or employer reference
    • Statement of purpose

    The graduate school will forward your application to our department. The Admissions Committee will review only completed applications with supporting documentation.

  4. After your application has been reviewed, the admissions committee will notify you of your status.
International Applicants

Our department does not require a preliminary application for international students.




Master's or Sixth Year Program

All Application Materials (paper and online) are due by February 1 for Fall Admission, April 1 for Summer Admission, and November 1 for Spring Admission


To apply to our Master's or Sixth Year programs (campus or on-line):

  1. Read about admissions requirements

  2. Complete the graduate school application
    www.grad.uconn.edu/prospective/online.html

    Be sure to review carefully the application checklist before submitting the application. Include the following on your application:
    • Enrollment plans - Spring, Summer, or Fall
    • Degree and field of study - MA in Educational Psychology
    • Campus of intended registration - Storrs
    • Preferred faculty advisor
    Graduate Record Examinations (GREs) are not required for application to our Master's programs or Sixth Year.

  3. Mail the following materials, in one completed packet, to the Graduate School:
    • Official transcripts of all collegiate work completed to date
    • Three letters of academic or employer reference
    • Statement of purpose - include which of our Master's programs are applying to : Three Summers campus, Regular (full-time academic year), or Three Summers On-line
