Description:

The Abington school district offers a variety of options for gifted learners. The focus is on developing the unique gifts and talents of all students. Differentiation of instruction occurs routinely in the regular classroom along with opportunities for pullout programs for identified students. Teachers are offered many professional development opportunities to equip them with the skills they need to design appropriate curricula. The gifted education staff meets with identified students and also provide weekly consultant services to the teaching staff on meeting the needs of gifted students in the regular classroom.

Description:

Program is in the process of change. In the last two years, program, staff, and resources have gone through an extensive evaluation. Pilot program will be implemented this year with participation and collaboration of 2 elementary schools, 1 middle school, and 1 high school. The pilot program model will include push in and pull out programs.
