REQUEST FOR MANUSCRIPTS
Policy Statement
The Journal for the Education of the Gifted is the official journal of The
Association for the Gifted, a Division of the Council for Exceptional Children.
Its major purpose is communication of information about the needs of gifted
and talented children. The Journal also serves as a forum for the exchange of
diverse ideas and points of views on the education of the gifted and talented.
Articles that demonstrate a high degree of critical analysis in their treatment
of salient themes relating to gifted and talented individuals will be given
priority. The publication includes theoretical, descriptive, and research articles.
The Journal solicits articles in the following categories.
" Original research with practical relevance to the education for gifted
and talented individuals;
" Theoretical position papers;
" Descriptions of innovative programming and instructional practices for
gifted and talented individuals based on existing or novel models of gifted
education;
" Reviews of the literature in areas pertinent to the education of gifted
and talented individuals; and
" Historical perspectives.
Preparation of Copy
Manuscripts are evaluated by referees. To permit anonymity, attach a cover
page giving authorship and institutional affiliation but provide only the title
as a running head. Either submit four copies OR email manuscripts to mschafstall@bsu.edu.
To prepare a manuscript, type double-spaced on white standard bond paper; insert
a location note of any tables whenever possible. Include an abstract of 100-150
words. For information regarding citations, please see the Publication Manual,
American Psychology Association, Fourth Edition. Manuscripts are accepted subject
to editing. Upon final acceptance, submit a computer diskette containing the
corrected manuscript and all tables.
The Journal for the Education of the Gifted welcomes manuscripts for consideration
